709 - Embedded Archivists: Exploring New Depths in Teaching with Primary Sources

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Embedded instruction represents a new form of archival practice. Archivists embedded in semester-long courses from a range of institutions offer lightning talks on the challenges and rewards of their experiences, including collaboration with faculty; teaching courses, developing objectives, and lesson plans; student assessment; and digital humanities/scholarship projects. The purpose is to share advice with fellow practitioners interested in engaging in embedded instruction and to help prepare archivists as educators.

Grimm: Embedded and Beyond: From Co-teaching Archival Intelligence and Historical Methods to Etiquette When Meeting an Astronaut
Levitt: Adjuncting and Archiving: Confessions of a Lone Arranger
Bleyer: Being an Embedded Archivist
Youngblood: "Beams of Light into the Twilight Zone": Evolving Curricula Design Using Archives for History of the South Instruction
Nofziger: Engaging the Archives: Faculty and Archivist Collaborations
