Internet Archive
Processing Archivist
San Francisco
I'm in my next-to-last semester of an MLIS through the University of North Texas Northern California cohort. I am interested in preserving the very old (manuscripts) to the very new (websites). I am currently processing the books and papers of Marion Stokes so that they can be digitized by our scanning team at the Internet Archive before they are sent to their final home at Temple University. Let's talk about how to get backlogs of unprocessed collections (such as the one I am currently working on) digitized. I also have a passion for preserving magnetic media. I've managed to have a different internship each semester working with everything from fashion (at the Texas Fashion Collection in Denton), personal papers of deceased psychoanalysts (at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis, acetate photo negatives (at the Academy of Sciences), and magnetic media digitization (at the Internet Archive). I'm looking for an internship for fall 2016 where I could learn even more about magnetic media, or film preservation, or museum archival/curatorial work in the Bay Area. If you know of something good then I'd love to meet you. Thanks.
