601 - Cross Pollination: Genealogy in Public Library Special Collections

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Libraries and collecting repositories frequently house genealogical collections as well as archival materials, which share similar traits. Panelists discuss how to work with genealogical collections, addressing policy development, strategies for appraisal, processing and access, and unique staffing issues that may leave other materials neglected for the more immediate needs of genealogical researchers. The lack of education in the unique issues relating to genealogical collections and management of volunteers also is addressed.

Ward: Genealogy in Public Library Special Collections
Barrett: Genealogy in Public Library Special Collections
Voss: Building a Successful Program through Collaboration
Stanley: Cross Pollination: Genealogy in Public Library Special Collections
Clark: Challenges in Educating for Special Collection Genealogy Services
