Ashley Stevens is the Education & Outreach Coordinator at the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, a position she has held since March 2015. At TSLAC, she coordinates outreach efforts for the Archives and Information Services Division (ARIS), develops archives-related programming, serves as chair of the Exhibits Committee, and Principal Assistant of the Texas Historical Records Advisory Board. She brings to the position over three years of archival experience in the federal and non-profit sectors.
She holds a M.A. in Public History and an MLIS in archives from the University of South Carolina (Columbia) where she wrote her master thesis, “The Power of Remembering Over Forgetting”: Alexander Salley Jr. and the Southern Archival Movement to shape memory,” an examination of the establishment and early development of Southern state archives with special attention to the creation of a state archives in South Carolina. She also holds a B.A. in History from Georgia Southern University.
